THE MASTER PLAN

OPERA MALL VIENNA’s positioning needs to be reimagined in an attractive and cosmopolitical way, distinctively emphasizing its strong connection to the City of Vienna. Its immediate vicinity to the Vienna State Opera provides excellent opportunities to create this unique and distinctive identity.

The concept for OPERA MALL VIENNA comprises the existing Ringstrassen-Galerien as well as the entire quarter between the opera building and Schwarzenbergplatz. Its exterior areas welcome visitors to stroll, shop, and stay at the mall.

OPERA MALL VIENNA’s newly designed main entrance is located on Max Weiler Platz, which will accommodate a broad range of restaurants and cafés with their respective outdoor facilities.

The OPERA MALL VIENNA project started in autumn 2015. Negotiations with future tenants are expected to be completed by the end of 2018.

A TRIBUTE TO GUSTAV MAHLER

Inspired by the Vienna State Opera’s elegance, a red carpet leads visitors from Kärntner Strasse, via Mahlerstrasse, to the heart of the new OPERA MALL VIENNA. The carpet brings the nearby opera building to mind and becomes a connective design element due to its contemporary interpretation of materials and surfaces.

The OPERA MALL VIEANNA’s individual façades are united by newly designed awnings for its historic shop fronts. The selection of colors and surface materials as well as the corresponding lighting concept further accentuates these areas.

The operatic theme of the OPERA MALL VIENNA continues with the mall’s soundscape. Particularly the composer and opera director Gustav Mahler (1860 – 1911), who lends his name to Mahlerstrasse, stands for this close connection to the Vienna State Opera. This significant upgrade of Mahlerstrasse as part of the OPERA MALL VIENNA also pays homage to this great Austrian artist.

WIENER RINGSTRASSE AT ITS BEST!

OPERA MALL VIENNA presents itself as a two-storied retail area with spacious shop windows. Just like on Mahlerstrasse, its clearly visible awnings unite the entire front of the building and provide cosmopolitan flair. The sidewalk will be widened to a boulevard, which will be greened and furnished accordingly.

UNIQUE MALL DESIGN / RETAIL MEETS OPERA

High-quality materials are used to realize the mall’s new design in accordance with its operatic theme. Its color range is inspired by the warm, red and gold spectrum of the State Opera. Red carpet runs throughout all three of the mall’s retail floors and defines its public areas.
